Are you thinking about getting your child baptized?
The Sacrament of Baptism, the sign and seal of God’s grace and our response is the foundational recognition of Christian commitment. It is appropriately celebrated following the reading and proclaiming of the Word, and shall include statements concerning the Biblical meaning of Baptism, the responsibility to be assumed by those desiring Baptism for themselves or their children, and the nurture to be undertaken by the church. (Book of Order, W- 3.3602)
In the Reformed tradition, we understand baptism to be about grace. It is not a cultural rite that you or your child must pass through, but an outpouring of the grace and forgiveness of Christ on the one who is baptised. The water is a sign and seal of God’s grace. We baptise infants or adults who are seeking to walk their spiritual journey with Jesus Christ, in the community of the church.
Whether or not you are a member of Carmel, we encourage you to speak to one of the pastors if you are considering baptism for yourself or your child. We encourage the baptized to be surrounded by and grow in a community of faith. Join us as we journey together toward God.
