Carmel Presbyterian Church and Iglesia de Cristo la Gran Comision Share Potluck Dinner and Worship

Inspired by Project FUSE in Delaware County, Carmel Presbyterian Church has recently discerned the desire to connect with churches of other denominations and backgrounds, as well as creating interfaith relationships.  One result of this new impetus was the potluck dinner with the Iglesia de Cristo la Gran Comision (ICGC), a Hispanic-based church that worships in our building.  Our communities had not partnered together in the past, so we thought beginning with a simple get-to-know-you dinner would be a great way to build relationships.  Wonderful food and conversation were enjoyed by all, including amazing homemade pupusas, the official national dish of El Salvador.

The ICGC then graciously invited Carmel to a worship service.  While it was almost entirely in Spanish, the members of Carmel were able to appreciate both the spirit and the Spirit of our time together.  Both communities are excited about the possibility of working together in the very near future.  We continue to hold one another in prayer, and look forward to serving out God’s mission for us in the world.
