April Cook-In with a Twist!
For the past 50 years Caring for Friends (CFF) has served millions of individuals and families in just the local 5-county region who face food insecurities every day – homebound seniors, the disabled, the homeless. Most clients are elderly individuals who could not otherwise remain in their homes without this support, but CFF also serves school-age children and families.
CPC has supported CFF’s efforts for many years with COOK-INs to assemble meal trays featuring a past with meat sauce entree, a dinner roll and a side of vegetables. Our goal for the April 21st Cook-In is to prepare 300 trays as part of this “Christ Is Calling” project supported by the Board of Deacons.
SO WHAT’S “THE TWIST” THIS TIME AROUND? CFF also has a need for BREAKFAST BAGS offered to families with school-age children. As part of their commitment to a PEACEMAKING PROJECT and as part of this Christ is Calling mission outreach, Carmel’s Youth Ministry (CYM) will assemble 144 Breakfast Bags to be donated to CFF along with the frozen meal trays.
How can you help? DONATE boxed and canned goods, VOLUNTEER to COOK a casserole or two, and SIGN-UP to help ASSEMBLE meal trays in Carmel’s kitchen on Sun. April 21st after worship.
You can find information and sign-up sheets online or email Sue Lohoefer at susanlohoefer@gmail.com. There are paper copies in the narthex by the letter writing table, too.
