Christian Education Hour

Carmel Presbyterian invites you to join us at 9:00 AM every Sunday for our all-ages Christian Education Hour! We break down into the following age groups:

One-Room Education for all pre-school (age 4) through sixth grade (age 11) meets in the Children’s Worship room located in the front of the Chapel on the left. The current curriculum is “Kids Own Worship” by Group. We’ve found this curriculum to be both user-friendly for teachers and a great way to invite our children to experience the Bible!

The Jr/Sr High class meets downstairs in Carmel Hall for a weekly breakfast class. Take the stairway beside the entrance to the Sanctuary.

Education for Pre-Schoolers up to age three occurs in the nursery during the worship service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and follows the “Wee Believe” curriculum distributed by the Presbytery. Children’s Worship is available for age 4 through grade 3 during part of the worship service, after the children’s storytime.

The next youth Confirmation Class in preparation for church membership will be offered in the fall of 2015. Contact the Church Office if you and your child are interested.

Our Adult Education class meets in the Fellowship Lounge, down the hall from the front entrance and on the right. Dr. Thornton teaches these sessions on a variety of topics, including the Old Testament and “Does the Bible Really Say That?”, dealing with controversial issues.  This is the second year for the Alternate Adult Education Class, which meets in the Chapel and uses a small group discussion format.  The books studied have included “Sabbath in the Suburbs” and “What’s the Least I Can Believe and Still Be a Christian.”

We always welcome new ideas and more volunteers to help with our Christian Education ministry. If you are interested, please contact our Children’s Education Coordinator, Lisa Lent, our Nursery Coordinator, Marleen Heintz, or Elder Janet Simon, Chair of the Christian Education Committee. ([email protected])
