ADULT EDUCATIONAL CLASSES

Waterfall
The primary Adult Education class is on Sunday mornings at 11 A.M. in the Fellowship lounge.  Dr. Thornton is the regular teacher and the topics change around.  Recently, there have been Bible Studies, a study on the Foundations of Spiritual Thought, and a group of classes called, Asking the Difficult Questions, where participants were invited to hand in questions of the faith they found difficult, to be covered one by one.  All are welcome.

SEMINARS
Late in 2008, Dr. Thornton taught a weekend Enneagram Seminar that drew a lot of interest.  As a follow-up to that seminar, he began a Growth Group that would explore deeper dimensions of the Enneagram as it relates to our own spiritual life.  These take place in the lounge once a month.

MEN’S MINISTRIES

The men of the church enjoy a breakfast at 7:30 A.M., usually on the third Saturday of each month.  Dr. Thornton leads a lesson or a discussion time with the 20-25 men who attend.  In November of 2009, we held a Men’s Retreat at Pendle Hill, where the men studied Living With Integrity as a Man in the 21st Century.

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN’S MINISTRIES

PW purpose:
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
To support the mission of the church worldwide,
To work for justice and peace, and
To build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian
Church (USA) and witnesses to the promise of God’s Kingdom.

Membership:   40 active members plus 3 honorary members.  Our organization consists of three active circles meeting on the third Tuesday (morning and evening) and Wednesday afternoon September through June for Bible study, fellowship, business and second-mile giving to missions.

Circle Bible Study:  Our study has been the Horizons Bible Study for 2008-2009 is entitled “Jubilee!  Luke’s Gospel for the Poor” which highlights some of the unique aspects of Jesus’ life and teaching.

Programs:  We had only one special gathering this year, that being our Ecumenical Salad Luncheon in June.  Our 50+ attendees included members of local Presbyterian churches as well as other denominations, and they enjoyed a luncheon and then a wonderful program.  As we invite Presbyterian Church women and those of other religious groups to attend our special gatherings, we also respond to their invitations as well.
